We were there to enjoy the surrounds. We liked the history of the area. The food was good but the meals were huge.

Characterful pub, centrally located in Shepton. Friendly atmosphere and cosy bar/dining area with open log fire, serving a good range of ales and pub food.

Amazing dinner and room, really quirky character throughout. Like a home away from home. The ensuite was delightful through cupboard doors and the staircase in the wardrobe was definately unexpected. Had a lovely weekend, wonderful atmosphere to just sit back and relax

... I really enjoyed my stay and the service that I recieved from this place. I obviously am not in the area all too often, but I will make a point to use them later this summer when I am in the area for the festival .... a great place to stay and excellent service is the norm. If your planning to stay in that area I highly recommend this place. It's worth what you will pay for sure.

I spend a lot of time in small hotels and this was by far the best! As a women on my own its important to feel safe. I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door, the welcome was friendly and I will always go back when I am in the area!!!

There are not many pubs in Shepton Mallet where you can be made to feel as welcome as one is at the Kings Arms - and well kept ale to boot, who could fault it?

charming, delightful, full of charactar and original features. landlord very friendly, gave us a tour of all the rooms, showed us work in progress, and entertained us with local history. staff very helpful and genuinely warm and friendly -especially jake the dog who adopted us for our stay.we ate dinner there which was excellent, all ingredients fresh and nicely prepared and the hearty breakfast was served to our choice of time. a very relaxing atmosphere all round and nothing too much trouble.
some little decor details less than perfect yes, but it is several hundred years old and they are doing an update- so nothing to really complain about. not a modern, soulless, detail -perfect chain but an eccentric, quirky one-off. we loved it.

Probably the best place to stay in Shepton Mallett, which is not the most interesting place to visit, being very run down town and I suspect the subject of poor planning decisions in the past. The hotel is a very old building with interesting ...
